The Fudan classification of triple-negative breast cancer
A world first.

In 2019, the team led by Shao Zhimin and Jiang Yizhou introduced the Fudan classification, identifying four molecular subtypes of triple-negative breast cancer. The findings were published in Cancer Cell.

The immunohistochemical classification method entered the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association's Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines and Standards in 2021, bringing research into clinical testing.

Chinese innovation in limb function reconstruction

Gu Yudong pioneered contralateral C7 nerve transfer from the unaffected side. The team led by Xu Wendong and Gu Yudong went on to study nerve reconstruction for upper-limb hemiplegia following chronic brain injury. Their original research was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The limb function restoration project received the first-class 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Award, presented in 2024.
