Review can be useful when a diagnosis is uncertain, reports differ or a proposed treatment depends on a specific finding. A pathology review and a new molecular test are different requests and may require different material.
Records for the assessment
Bring complete pathology reports with specimen dates and sites. Also include existing immunohistochemistry and molecular-test reports.
Questions for the clinical team
Ask whether the existing material is sufficient and what a supplementary test would change. Broad genetic testing is not automatically required, and a biomarker result does not by itself establish that a treatment is suitable or available.
Confirming care and arrangements
Obtain the receiving laboratory’s written specimen requirements before arranging transfer. Confirm consent, specimen return, transport requirements and separate review or testing fees with the relevant institutions.
